| Moving away from the lucre of big bucks, India's full-strength team lead by Sourav Ganguly is set to clash with Sri Lanka in a benefit match at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on March 29.
To be telecast live on MAX, the hybrid channel from Sony, the match is aimed at raising funds for the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre in Pune, Maharashtra.
Speaking on the occasion, Indian Nightingale, Lata Mangeshkar who is also the daughter of the legendary singer said, "The Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital is in memory of my late father, and through it our mission is to serve the poor and needy who cannot afford expensive medical treatment for dreaded diseases such as cancer. I am truly thankful to all the players of both the teams who have so graciously agreed to play for this cause."
On his part, Kunal Dasgupta, CEO, Sony Entertainment Television said, "I would like to thank Lataji for giving MAX an opportunity to help in this noble cause. We have always shared an excellent relationship with Lataji and are proud to partner her in this laudable effort." |
