DishTV forays into urban market

DishTV, which brought direct-to-home television viewing to India in October 2003, has been successful in penetrating the markets of rural India with its nationwide range and superior image and sound quality.

With its enhanced offering of 100-plus channels, DishTV aims at providing urban Indians a preferential advantage over their existing platform of cable network.

The DishTV bouquet encapsulates channels from 32 Indian and International broadcasters that cover the entire gamut of TV viewing - news, soaps, sports, music, movies, cartoons, and vernacular, plus a range of niche channels that India has never seen before.

Broadcasters include Turner, ESPN, Star Sports, NDTV, TV Today, India TV, ETV, and Asianet. Besides these, DishTV also provides all the channels as offered by Prasar Bharati's Apna DTH.

The company is also offering easy finance options to promote this service. The introductory price for Dish TV is Rs 3,999 which can also be paid in EMIs of Rs 150 for three-and-a-half years, or just pay the subscription charges of required bouquets of channels for two years collectively at the time of purchase and get the hardware absolutely free of cost.
