Cartoon Network acquires Moving Picture Company's Jungle Tales

Kids channel Cartoon Network has acquired Jungle Tales, an animation series produced by Delhi-based Moving Picture Company, making it the eighth local acquisition for the channel.

The story of Jungle Tales is adapted from Panchatantra, a well-known collection of animal fables, aimed at imparting wisdom, wit and morals through simple yet evergreen stories and incidents.

The animation series, says Ian Diamond, senior vice-president and general manager, Turner Entertainment Networks Asia (TENA), is smart and humorous, adapted for a contemporary audience, with a universal crossover appeal that promises to enchant both children and adults. "Importantly," he says. " The series is rooted in Indian folklore, with the values portrayed transcending all traditions and cultures. This is the country's first indigenous long form 3D animation series for television and we are delighted to present it on the channel."
