He was one among those who gave Indian advertising its own identity. As a starter in advertising I thought I should meet him at least once in my lifetime. But he has taken his way to live forever.

May his soul rest in peace and his glory live forever.

I deeply mourn the passing away of the father of modern Indian advertising, Mr RK Swamy. I was one of the fortunate few to have started my career at RKSwamy/BBDO in Hyderabad and have had the opportunity to have interacted with the legend on several occassions during his visits to Hyderabad. He was an emboidiment of a simple and perfect human being and was a fountain of knowledge. He will be missed. My condolances to Sundar/Sekhar and RKSwamy/BBDO.
Lakshman Kumar A

Mr Swamy was a source of personal inspiration, who silently shaped my career. What distinguished him from others was that he came to be symbolised as the flag bearer of nationalistic commitment in the industry. It was therefore not surprise that he was considered the pioneer of "Public Sector Advertising in India". He also participated in the publicity campaigns of the BJP during critical elections. His character was well symbolised by the symbol of Hansa known for "Hansa Ksheera Nyaaya", an ability to sift the good from the evil.

It is unlikely that India will see another personality like Mr Swamy in the advertising industry.

May his soul rest in peace.
Naavi

The advertising industry in India has lost a legend.
Lakshman

I guess the loss of this great man marks the end of a great era in Indian advertising. I personnally feel that we, as a generation, are unfortunate not to have been able to learn much from him.

My heartfelt condolences to all members of his family.

May his soul rest in peace.
Rajive Mathur

Truly a great loss for Indian advertising. My deep condolences to Shekhar/Sundar and everyone at RKS/BBDO.

Amit Karia

I have seen his creative touch in the ads during the 1970s. I hope his memory will lead the company to excellence always. My sincere condolences.
Cartoonist Balachandran

A legend has passed away. It is a great loss the Indian advertising industry has to bear with once again. My sincere condolences to his family and all at RKS. May his soul rest in peace.

Sir, we'll miss you a lot.
Sanchita Roy

It is indeed a great loss to the Indian advertising industry. It has always been my dream to work with him; but that remained unfulfilled. His lessons to Indian advertising will always be the guiding principles for the industry.
Sai Venkat

I am in the advertising business for the last eight-nine years and have seen lots of good work from RKS. May RK Swamy's soul rest in peace.
Jayesh Maneklal Rajput

I was fortunate to be part of the RKS/BBDO family where I have learnt what advertising is all about.

It is very sad that Mr Swamy is no longer with us. My condolences to the family and RKSwamy/BBDO.
Pulak Bhattacharya

The loss of such a great advertising professional is indeed a matter of great sorrow for us. My sincere condolences to his family and close friends.

May his soul rest in peace.
Himanshu Jha

It was my privilege to have known him closely between 1995 and 2000 when I was at RKS/BBDO in India. I have the deepest respect and fondness for the great man. He was the quintessential gentleman, incisive and sharp as an arrow, witty and humane... he had a deep belief in God, his wide knowledge of economics, politics, social issues and of course consumer psychology was amazing... a truly remarkable bundle of energy and ideas! The advertising world has lost a great soul.
Indranil Gupta (from Bahrain)

Yes, they do not make them like him any more!

He was my first boss, at Swamy's Bangalore, and even that was a misnomer. The ease with which he used to interact with even the juniormost copywriter spoke volumes about his innate respect for human potential, and his belief in teamwork.

May his soul rest in peace.
Raman Murali

My sincerest condolences to Mrs Swamy, Shekhar, Sunder, and the whole RK Swamy/BBDO family. I was privileged to be among the handful of staff in the early days of the Bangalore operation and I am immensely grateful for what I learned from Mr Swamy during that time.
Esther Yates (formerly Savita Yates)

A void in the Indian advertising industry today. A void that won't ever fill.

My deep condolences to the family.

May his soul rest in peace.
Shantomoy Ray

It is very sad that a legend like Mr Swamy has passed away. But one has to go back to Him. I was very fortunate to start my career with RKS/BBDO. I am very proud to say that. My heartfelt condolences to each and everyone at the RK Swamy family.
K Ravindranath

With the passing away of RK Swamy, popularly accepted as the father of modern day indian advertising, we have lost somebody who knew the basic essence advertising and specially brand servicing. I just hope there is somebody out there in advertising who can fill the big void that has been created by his demise.
GR Arun

I deeply mourn at the demise of a great advertising professional, he was not only a great professional but also a great human being. His physical absence from this world is not only the loss to his family but also to all of us.

May his soul rest in peace.
Deepak Sharma

Your contributions to the Indian advertising industry will always be remembered, Sir.

My condolences to the family and RKSwamy/BBDO which cannot be the same without you.
Falak Randerian

My heartfelt condolences to the family and the agency.
VG Rajan

He was a true visionary in advertising field when the industry itself was in nascency. The entire advertising world is mourning his unfortunate demise. I agree with Mr. Sridhar, they don't make people like him anymore.
Santosh Kumar

The Mahatma of great advertising, I once met. May his soul rest in peace.
Tennyson Torcato

My personal heartfelt condolences to Shekar Swamy and the RK Swamy family - which is inclusive of the BBDO. Have had the opportunity of being serviced by RK Swamy/BBDO, and have had direct interface with Shekar. This organisation is truly a 'value-based company'. This would have only been possible with the clarity of the 'vision' and the infusion of a 'culture' by Mr RK Swamy. He'd continue to live through this institution and its torchbearers.
VS Ramana

Tragically, there'll never be another quite like The Old Man. The last of the giants will be missed more for the loss of a source of inspiration than anything else. May the spirits guide you gently home.
Sanjay K Mallah

A great person the world of advertising has lost. One who reinvented things his way, had a great amount of self respect and was a fighter to the core. He started from scrach at 50 to take his agency to the top. I have not met him but he will always be remembered when the adverising history of India is written.
Rammohan Shetty

I have never met this great man. But he is the only one to have brought advertising to Chennai. He has been a boon to Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai.

My sincere condolences to his family and close friends.
Vijay Subramanian

A great man, and for once, a very well balanced and deserved obituary too.

Truly. Mr Swamy's remarkable achievement, even if known to too few people in my opinion, are inspirational, and one certainly hopes more people are inspired by it. My sincere condolences to the bereaved family.
Nikhil Raj

We have lost a great person of the advertising world. As an agency of Bangladesh we had always looked at the work of RKSwamy/BBDO as creative, thought provoking ones. Tribute to his departed soul and we know the he and his work will be remembered forever.
Ashraf Kaiser

I never met Mr. RK Swamy. However, his not being with us anymore is an irreparable loss to the advertising industry. He has inspired thousands of professionals to strive for nothing less than the best. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
Vijay Shukla

I was very fortunate to begin my advertising career in RK Swamy/BBDO. Today, I look back at this great institution with pride. RKS was a great visionary and an inspiration for many. It is a great loss for the advertising world.
May his soul rest in peace.
Aftab Ahmed

I have never met this great man. But from what I read about and heard about at the agency, I wish I could. His very idea of starting an agency at the age of 50 inspires so many of us young people to dare and to have faith in God and oneself.
May his soul rest in peace.
Ashish Oommen

We lost a piller from the Indian advertising world.
Anoop Ghosh
